THE BACKSTORY (from Anne Hall, founder of Crespell):
Before I was a grower, I was an artist. I came to flowers through color and the suspicion that walking through an incredible garden wasn’t so different from walking through an inspiring exhibition. As I approach my crop list each winter, when I’m not feeling overwhelmed by all the planning entailed, I have glimpses of feeling like an artist again, choosing colors, shapes and textures (that end up in your bouquets!) together.
Many of the artists on this list have been CSA members. They look at these flowers with the same dazzled disbelief I have. I’m so excited to see what each of them chooses and how their deep relationship to color and form comes through in these temporary sculptures that are bouquets.
HOW IT WORKS:
Each week, one of the five artists included in this project will come to the farm and make a bouquet using 3–7 different elements that they find in any of our wild or cultivated fields (in quantity). Then, my crew and I will use their recipe to make your bouquets and The 607 will bring them to you. We hope this will be the first of an inspired and exciting series.
